Historical Note

This collection contains information on several internship programs at Mount Holyoke College. The Washington Internship Program began in 1949 as a summer program that allowed Mount Holyoke students to work for ten to twelve weeks with member of the House, Senate, or other branch of the federal government. In 1950 the International Internship Program was initiated to allow students to volunteer as aids to United Nations officials, or to other government officials abroad. Students in this program are encouraged to live in international students centers. Other internships in science, arts, and business fields are also available.
