Return to the Table of Contents Historical NoteSummerMath began in 1981 as a six-week mathematics-intensive program for high-school girls. The program's goals include providing a stimulating environment for learning and building self-confidence in young women in math. SummerMath also includes a two-week program for primary and secondary school teachers (SummerMath for Teachers) based on improving teaching methods in math classes.
