Historical Note

Higher Horizons was formed by the Board of Education for New York City. In collaboration with Mount Holyoke College, a group of Higher Horizons underprivileged girls were brought from New York to visit the College for one weekend. Many of these girls then applied to Mount Holyoke, and some received scholarships.

These records contain correspondence (1964-79), reports, financial information, and memorabilia. Information primarily concerns the selection of girls from New York City Schools to participate in the program, and feedback from student and chaperone visitors.
