The papers are open to research according to the regulations of the Sophia Smith Collection with the following caveats: The collection has not been fully processed and therefore may be difficult to use. Return to the Table of Contents Historical NoteThe Women's International Theatre Alliance (WITA) was founded to promote the work of women in the theatre, from playwrights to women's theatre groups to one-woman shows. An International Women's Theatre Festival was proposed to be held at Skidmore College in 1981, but never took place. The WITA dissolved in 1981. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and Contents of the CollectionThe collection consists of scripts of 125 plays that were submitted for two awards, mailing lists, correspondence, clippings, publicity material and printed material, as well as questionnaires and other documents relating to the proposed International Women's Theatre Festival.
