Historical NoteFocus on Women, Inc. was organized in 1978 as a network of local groups and agencies serving women and girls in Berkshire County, Massachusetts. Their goals were to enhance, improve and foster the educational, economic, social and cultural opportunities available to women. They sought to lessen and eliminate prejudice, discrimination, abuse, and exploitation, and diversify cultural opportunities for women by organizing conferences, and obtaining and disseminating information. Groups involved included the Women's Services Center, League of Women Voters of Central Berkshire, Berkshire County Extension Service, the Girls Club of America, Berkshire Community College, Minority Women's Alliance, Junior League and Family Planning Council of Western Mass.
