Hashimoto was a Doshisha Fellow for one year after graduation from Amherst College. The collection includes teaching records, printed matter, photographs, and other materials documenting her year as a teacher of English and peer mentor, as well as information on Amherst House at Doshisha University and various university activities.

Marika Joyce Hashimoto is a native of New York, N.Y. She graduated from Amherst College in 2006, majoring in Black Studies. She was a Doshisha Fellow in 2006-2007.

Teaching records, university-related printed matter, photographs, and other materials document-ing Marika Hashimoto's year (2006-07) as a Fellow at Doshisha University (Kyoto, Japan) after graduating from Amherst College. As part of her fellowship, she taught English and served as a peer mentor. The papers also include information about Amherst House at Doshisha and various university activities. In her own words, the collection includes "my correspondence with Teruko Fujikawa, the caretaker at Amherst House, who has since passed away (she was made Honorary Class Member of the Amherst Class of 2008). Also included are a few files on Doshisha Elementary School, where I taught part-time, and some university activities. There are some meeting notes from the Amherst House dormitory students, in their effort to preserve their dorm status (ultimately a failed effort). Also some notes on the Friend Peace House, where they have since relocated the Fellow."
