The majority of the items in the collection were originally bound in volumes, each with a bookplate reading "bound at the expense of Mr. Frank W. Stearns of the Class of 1878." The volumes were disbound and listed between 1986 and 1989. Additional posters have come from a variety of sources, including alumni donation and administrative offices.

The material in this collection covers the range of student, academic and social concerns, from public lecture courses, musical performances, sporting events and public notices.
