545 |aShelter and advocacy group for homeless women in Chicago. Deborah's Place is a non-profit organization established in Chicago, Illinois, in December 1984 to help single, homeless women regain control of their lives. Deborah's Place operates at four locations, each of which provides different services, but all are focused on women who are or were homeless. Deborah's Place itself is an overnight shelter that functions primarily to meet basic needs and allows women to obtain temporary relief from the streets. Irene's Daytime Program provides a safe, secure environment for re-establishing confidence by helping women meet daily grooming needs as well as work on job-related skills. Marah's Transitional Program provides housing and supportive services for up to two years to help homeless women make the transition to independent living. The Deborah's Place Records also contain those of Marah's Place. Marah's Place is transitional housing program for homeless or formally homeless women established in Chicago, Illinois, in March 1988. One of four programs administered by Deborah's Place, Marah's Place offered up to two years of assistance to women to help make the transition from shelter living to regular housing and independence. Marah's Place offers housing as well as additional resources for mental and physical maintenance, individual case management, and ongoing supportive relationships.
