Return to the Table of Contents Richard Rodgers (1920-1979) was an American composer well-known for his collaborations with Lorenz Hart and Oscar Hammerstein. Rodgers began writing music at the young age of 14 and went on to compose for both theatrical productions and films including Oklahoma, The King and I, The sound of music, and South Pacific.
