Sarton, George, 1884-1956. George Sarton additional papers, 1913-1955 (MS Am 2614): Guide.Administrative InformationNo accession number. Possibly gift of Professor I. Bernard Cohen; received: probably after 1956. This collection appears to be "leftover" materials that interrelate to the other Sarton collections already cataloged at Houghton. Collection was not preliminarily processed until July of 2008. For additional George Sarton papers held by the Houghton Library and the Harvard University Archives, see HOLLIS and OASIS. The papers have been removed from the binders and placed in folders; order remains the same as in the original binder. He founded and edited Isis, an international review devoted to the history and philosophy of science; studied Arabic and Islam in the Middle East; and lectured at many universities in the U.S. and Europe. Sarton was born in Belgium and emigrated to the U.S. in 1915.
