BIOGRAPHICAL AND HISTORICALWilmer W. Marshall (1847-1905) was a Philadelphia Quaker businessman. He was the son of Caleb and Jane P. Marshall, and his family transferred from Center Monthly Meeting to Philadelphia Monthly Meeting (Hicksite) in 1865. He was active in the Friends Social Lyceum. In 1876, he married out of meeting to Julia Jacoby, but continued to follow the principles of the Society of Friends. Return to the Table of Contents SCOPE AND CONTENTThe collection includes diaries and a small amount of correspondence and miscellaneous material. The diaries cover the years 1859-1878 and relate daily life, including his attendance at meeting, family concerns, and participation in political meetings during the Civil War, and Friends Social Lyceum, held at Swarthmore College on June 6, 1869.
