BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICALMargaret E. Jones, the daughter of William B. and Phebe Jones, was a birthright member of Moorestown Monthly Meeting, New Jersey. She graduated from Wellesley College in 1917. In 1923 she began work for the American Friends Service Committee as Assistant to the Director, responsible for the Home Service Program. As such, she was involved with one of the AFSC's earliest efforts at providing summer opportunities for young people. She later worked in several overseas posts as well as in Washington, D.C. and in New York at the United Nations. She served on the AFSC Board of Directors from 1964-1969. She was also chairman of the Wider Quaker Fellowship for a time. She died November 26, 1984 at Medford Leas, Medford, New Jersey, and is buried in Westfield Friends Cemetery, Cinnaminson, NJ.
