BIOGRAPHICAL AND HISTORICAL NOTE

In 1983, Anne Marie Eriksson (formerly Anne Marie Townsend) and husband Erik Eriksson helped found the Incest Survivors Resource Network International (ISRNI), a Quaker witness educational resource. After 15 years of operation, the firm filed for dissolution on June 5, 1998.

Anne Marie Eriksson served as president of ISRNI from its inception and was instrumental in the daily operations of the firm through its termination. Eriksson was extremely involved with helping those dealing with issues of family trauma and sexual abuse. In addition to her involvement with the ISRNI, Eriksson actively participated in numerous organizations including the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (membership committee), the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, the National Organization for Victim's Assistance, Quaker SCAPnet (coordinator), and VOICES in Action, Inc (board member).

The Incest Survivors Resource Network International was founded in 1983 and was incorporated as a nonprofit organization on May 22, 1984. ISRNI was a survivor-initiated organization that encouraged coordinated intervention and integrated treatment programs for incest victims and their families in full cooperation with child protection, law enforcement, and treatment agencies. The organization functioned as a self-funded service of the Task Group on Family Trauma of New York Yearly Meeting and to the Las Cruces Monthly Meeting, both of the Religious Society of Friends. Working as an adjunct to these organizations enabled ISRNI to serve the public while remaining an independent non-profit organization. ISRNI expanded to include the first national and international helpline answered in person by incest-survivors-only.

ISRNI was a pioneer in discussing the aftereffects of incest, female offenders, the vital need for effective treatment programs for juvenile offenders, the role of the mother in father-daughter incest, and the concept of emotional incest

A board of at least three survivor-members governed the firm. In addition, the organization held regular meetings of its survivor members and sent representatives to attend conventions, conferences, seminars, lectures, and meetings of related organizations

The incorporation was dissolved on June 5, 1998, due to the deteriorating health of both Anne Marie and Erik Eriksson. Anne Marie Eriksson died in 1999.

The organization became a committee of the New York Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends. The Incest Survivors Resource Network International was located at the Friends Meeting House, 15 Rutherford Place, New York, NY.
