This collection contains papers related to the publication of the Quaker periodical, Friendly Woman. Friendly Woman is a quarterly journal focusing on Quaker women's concerns and experiences. It was begun as a newsletter in 1974 at the conclusion of a women's conference held at Pendle Hill, the Quaker study center. Editorial responsibility for Friendly Woman is transferred every two years to a different Quakers women's group in a different city. The periodical contains essays, fiction, poetry, commentary, and art.

Each publishing unit becomes a new volume number, and this is how the series in the collection is designated. Within each series, papers are organized by minutes, correspondence, production records, and special projects
